FlowVision Family at Loretta’s – Blog 4: Race Day 1

Race day. Finally.
After all the prep, the qualifiers, the long drive, and yesterday’s practice—today was the real deal. Landon lined up for Moto 1 in the 65cc (10–11) Limited class, and no matter how many times you go racing, nothing quite compares to the feeling of race day at Loretta’s.
We were up early, out of Dickson before the sun really started cooking—but it didn’t take long for the heat to kick in. Temps hit around 112 degrees with humidity that felt like it was wrapping around you. Everyone was feeling it—riders, families, crews. In fact, the motos were cut a lap short across the board just to try and keep things somewhat safe. It was brutal.
Landon’s class was called mid-morning. He had a mid-pack gate pick, and came out of the start just about there—middle of the chaos, but clear. He rode smart through the opening lap and started clicking off positions as the race went on. The track was already beat up, and the heat made it feel twice as deep and sticky. Every rut was a workout.
He kept chipping away. Found a couple clean lines. Made solid passes. When the shortened moto wrapped up, he crossed the line in 19th.
It’s a solid finish, especially in a class this deep—but Landon wasn’t pumped. He’s the kind of rider that always wants more, and he knows where he left a few spots out there. We talked about it back at the van—he stayed composed, but you could tell he was already thinking about what he wants to do better next time. That drive is what keeps us showing up to races like this.
We reminded him of the obvious: it’s Day 1. And at Loretta’s, it’s a long week. Finishing strong, staying healthy in this heat, and learning from each moto is what matters most.
We ended the day back in Dickson, air conditioning never felt so good. Simple dinner, early night, and the focus shifts now to the Mod class.
The week’s just getting started—and so is he.
