Lake Elsinore, CA- After taking the AMA National West Hare Scrambles Championship in 2015, Jacob Argubright shifted his focus from the series, but returned this weekend for round two of the 2018 season.
Hosted in Prescott Valley, Arizona, Argubright and nearly 40 other Pro's lined up for the 3-hour format hare scramble race. Laid out across a 10-mile course, challenging off-road terrain proved difficult even for the top riders, as lap times averaged 30-minutes.
Coming from a last place start, Argubright eventually got going and began his hunt for the lead riders. Making his way through 37 other Pro riders, Argubright came through lap one in 7th overall. Meanwhile, he and fellow National Hare & Hound rider Kendall Norman kept each other honest in a wheel to wheel race until Argubright crashed and settled into his own pace in 6th place overall.
Over the next 2.5 hours, Argubright rode consistently every lap, until the last lap when he found himself dismounted and pulling himself up to get back on the bike. Successfully, he was able to recover quickly and raced his way to the finish line in 6th overall.
Argubright- "The NHHA, AMRA and #XMC hosted an exceptional event. I had a blast taking on a new race and location, and really enjoyed what the West Hare Scramble series had to offer. My start really hurt me in the beginning, but I was able to put my head down and charge; putting myself ahead of some really talented riders."
Argubright and the Chidester Transport Racing head to Superstition Mountain OHV in El Centro, California for round two of the AMA KENDA SRT National Hare & Hound this coming weekend.
