Landon McBride Qualifies for Loretta Lynn’s at Hangtown Regional | FlowVision

Hangtown Regional Recap

This past weekend was Landon’s final Loretta Lynn’s Regional at Hangtown, and it was one of those weekends that reminded me exactly why motocross is so hard.

You can do the work. You can prepare the bikes. You can show up ready. And still, every moto has its own story.

For Landon, each day started with Supermini. He went 8-DNF in that class after fouling a spark plug in the second moto. That one was frustrating because there really wasn’t much he could do about it. He had to pull off, and just like that, the class was done.

That is one of the tougher parts of this sport as a parent. You watch your kid put in the time, line up with a goal, and then something small like a spark plug can take the whole moto away. It is easy to say “that’s racing,” but in the moment, it still stings.

85cc 10-12 Limited: Punching the Ticket

The second motos each day were 85cc 10-12 Limited, and that ended up being the class where Landon got it done. He went 4-4 on the weekend and punched his ticket to Loretta Lynn’s.

Those motos may not look flashy on paper, but they were exactly what he needed. He stayed consistent, handled the pressure, and did his job.

At a Loretta Lynn’s Regional, that matters.

Everyone is fast. Everyone is trying to get to the same place. You do not always need the perfect weekend, but you have to keep yourself in it and avoid letting one bad moment turn into a bad day.

85cc 10-12 Mod: Finishing Strong

The last motos each day were 85cc 10-12 Mod. Landon went 8-3 in that class, and the second moto was probably one of the better rides of his weekend.

After already racing Supermini and Limited, and after dealing with the frustration from earlier, he still came out and finished strong with a 3rd.

As a dad, I was proud of that.

Not just because of the result, but because of the way he handled the weekend. Motocross asks a lot out of these kids. The nerves before the gate drops, the pressure of trying to qualify, the mistakes, the mechanical issues, the heat, the long days, and then having to reset and do it all again the next moto.

A Real Motocross Weekend

People see the results, but they do not always see everything behind them.

They do not see the long drives, the late nights working on bikes, the early mornings in the pits, the talks after a rough moto, or the quiet moments when your kid is trying to process what just happened. They do not see how much pressure these kids put on themselves.

This weekend was not perfect, but it was a real motocross weekend. Some good, some bad, some frustration, and a lot of fighting through it.

I’m proud of Landon for staying in it after the Supermini DNF and coming back to finish the job in Limited. Punching a ticket to Loretta Lynn’s is never easy, and every rider who makes it there has earned it.

This one means a lot to our family.

We are thankful for everyone who has supported Landon and FlowVision along the way. The people who check in, help at the races, support the brand, and cheer these kids on — it does not go unnoticed.

Now we get back to work and start getting ready for the Ranch.
