Why I Named It FlowVision®: The Story Behind Our Motocross Goggle Brand

When I started FlowVision®, I didn't want to create just another motocross goggle company.

There are already plenty of goggle brands out there. Some are great, and some seem like little more than a logo on a strap. I wanted FlowVision to have a reason behind the name and a connection to motocross that was real.

For me, that starts with something almost every rider has experienced.

Flow.

What Does FlowVision Mean?

If you've spent enough time riding a dirt bike, you've probably had one of those laps where everything just clicks.

You're not thinking about when to brake.

You're not forcing the bike into the corner.

You're not consciously telling yourself where to look or when to get back on the throttle.

You're just riding.

Your mind, body, and machine start working together and the track almost seems to slow down around you.

That's what I think of as flow.

It's a state of complete focus and immersion where everything feels connected. You're fully locked into the ride, reacting naturally instead of overthinking every movement.

That feeling became the first half of the name FlowVision.

Why Vision Is Just as Important

The second half of the name came from something pretty obvious when you're building motocross goggles.

You have to be able to see.

Clear vision is everything on a dirt bike.

You need to see the entrance to a rut, braking bumps, changing lines, rocks, roost, the rider in front of you and what the track is doing several seconds ahead.

When your vision is clear, you can process all of that sooner and ride with more confidence.

When your goggles are fogging, your lens is scratched, mud is covering your field of view or the goggle doesn't fit correctly, your focus immediately shifts away from riding.

To me, the connection was simple:

Flow is being completely connected to the ride. Vision is what allows you to stay there.

That's how FlowVision was born.

FlowVision Was Built From Motocross

I've been around motocross most of my life.

I raced professionally when I was younger, and today our family still spends countless weekends at motocross tracks, races and practice days.

Now I'm watching my son race and going through many of the same things from the other side of the fence.

The long drives.

Early mornings.

Bike prep.

Dust.

Mud.

Heat.

Cold.

Waiting in staging.

Cleaning goggles between motos.

Changing lenses.

Loading everything back into the van and doing it all again the next weekend.

That's an important part of the FlowVision story because this company wasn't created by people sitting in an office trying to figure out what motocross riders might want.

We actually live it.

And that real-world experience has shaped the way I look at every FlowVision product.

Why I Didn't Want Another Generic Goggle Brand

There are enough generic products in motocross already.

I've never wanted FlowVision to become a company that simply releases another color, puts out some flashy advertising and calls it innovation.

The product has to work.

A good pair of dirt bike goggles should give you a wide, clear field of vision, fit comfortably inside your helmet and stay in place for an entire moto.

The lens needs to perform.

The foam needs to be comfortable.

The strap needs to hold.

And when you're racing in bad conditions, your tear-offs or roll-off system need to work when you actually need them.

A motocross goggle isn't complicated in theory.

But when one little thing doesn't work correctly during a race, it becomes a very big deal.

That's why the small details matter to me.

Building Motocross Goggles for Actual Riders

Everything we build at FlowVision comes back to the rider.

Our Rythem™ motocross goggles were built for adult riders looking for comfort, performance and a clear field of vision.

Our Section™ youth motocross goggles were developed specifically for younger riders and smaller helmets while still giving kids the vision and performance they need on the track.

We also continue to develop lenses, motocross tear-offs, dual-pane lenses and our Element Film System™ roll-offs for the different conditions riders face throughout a season.

But regardless of the product, my goal is basically the same.

I want you to put your goggles on and stop thinking about them.

When the gate drops, you shouldn't be thinking about your goggles.

You should be looking ahead.

A Family-Run Motocross Company

FlowVision is still a family-run motocross company, and I'm proud of that.

Our family is at the races.

We talk to riders.

We hear what works and what doesn't.

We use the products.

I watch my own son line up behind the gate wearing FlowVision goggles, so the products we're putting into riders' hands are personal to me.

That doesn't mean we'll always get everything perfect.

It means we're always paying attention and always trying to make it better.

That's how I believe a motocross company should operate.

Why the Name FlowVision Still Fits

FlowVision has grown a lot since I first came up with the name, but what it means to me hasn't really changed.

The best moments I've ever had on a dirt bike weren't necessarily the ones where I was thinking the most.

They were the ones where I wasn't thinking at all.

The bike felt right.

The track made sense.

I could see where I wanted to go.

Everything else disappeared.

That's flow.

And being able to see it clearly is FlowVision®.
